Yūsei Matsui is the creator of Assassination Classroom, one of the most creative premises in WSJ history: a class of students must assassinate their alien teacher before he destroys the Earth.
Blending comedy with heartfelt emotion and action, the series concluded with one of the most acclaimed endings in modern shōnen manga. Before that he made Neuro: Supernatural Detective (2005–2009), and afterwards The Elusive Samurai (2021–2026), a historical manga about Hōjō Tokiyuki that ended in 2026 after 238 chapters.

Neuro: Supernatural Detective debuted in Weekly Shōnen Jump No. 12 · 2005, on sale February 21, 2005. That same issue also carried Kochikame, Naruto and Gintama. Its last chapter in the magazine, number 202, ran in No. 21 · 2009 (April 20, 2009), after 4 years of serialization.
