Fist of the North Star debuted in Weekly Shōnen Jump No. 41 · 1983, on sale September 13, 1983. That same issue also carried Kochikame, Kinnikuman and Captain Tsubasa. Its last chapter in the magazine, number 245, ran in No. 35 · 1988 (July 26, 1988), after almost 5 years of serialization.
